I am 45M, and I have a 17-year-old daughter that I’ll call “L” in this post. Starting in the summer of 2022, and until around March of 2023, L was getting sexted and stalked by one of her old teachers (this scumbag is thankfully being punished hard right now). L used to be such a vibrant, happy young girl, but ever since the first sext she received, she’s become paranoid and depressed.

This July, I, my wife (44F) and L went to Cape Cod for vacation. We hit up the beaches and had a great time. I took a lot of pictures at the beach, where, of course, L was wearing a swimsuit.

A few days ago, my mother visited our house. I told her all about our trip to Cape Cod and how awesome and scenic it was. I pulled out my phone and I told mom that I was about to show her our beach pictures, but L began tugging at my arm and pleaded with me not to show any pictures of her in a swimsuit. She told me that it’s about “my issues at school”, and I immediately understood that she was having a flashback to when she was getting hounded by her evil teacher. I did my best to reassure her, however, and I let her know that it was all alright, and I showed mom the beach pictures anyway, including pictures of her in a swimsuit. L was horrified, and her face turned so red. She stormed upstairs to her bedroom, and I could hear her crying when I passed her room later on. Am I the asshole here?
