I have super realistic dreams sometimes, and in my 30s some have become recurring. Back in my 20s, I dated a guy who loved reptiles (I’m an animal lover, but reptiles kinda make my skin crawl) and over the few years we were together, most of his reptiles died. I always felt guilty because I felt he was not feeding them frequently enough, but I knew reptiles had much different feeding schedules than mammals which I’m accustomed to, and they were my boyfriend’s so I didn’t say anything. For a long time, I kept having recurring dreams where I was surrounded by lots of different reptiles, and they were all dying. I’d rush around trying to feed and tend to them, and eventually wake up. The next time the dream happened, weeks would have elapsed between my last efforts tending to them, and they’d all be dying again. I’d literally spend so much effort to try and save these animals, wake up distressed to the point of tears, and a few days later relive it all over again. I realize this doesn’t sound extremely scary, but as a vet tech, spending the time in my dreams trying to save animals only to see them dying all over again is horrifying. Does anyone else have something that literally haunts their dreams?
