Has anyone else had bizarre interactions with Penn Medicine Billing lately? I had an appointment in April. Less than a month later, just a couple of days after I get the explanation of benefits from my insurance company, Penn sends me a bill for $47. Fine, I was expecting it. Except the included letter talks about “multiple attempts to contact” me (no?), avoiding further delinquency, and threatening me with collections.

I was so offended that I deliberately ignored it. No surprise, the follow-up letter was even more dramatic.

Seems pretty weird that they’re desperate to collect but 1) didn’t mention any balance at the follow-up appointment that I had a day before the first letter arrived and 2) they mention no online payment option, just phone during business hours and mailing in payment (a famously good idea in Philly 🙄)
