Posting this to share my experience Fedora vs Windows 11 in terms of battery life.
- Fedora 42 fresh install with LUKS
- Screen at 60 hz instead of 120 hz (also in Windows 60 hz)
With Windows 11 I just get around 6-8 hours with doing NOTHING. When I do something like WSL2 or browsing the web, it gets hot and the battery life is around 2-3 hours. Seems that there are just too many background processes draining the battery.
With Fedora, the battery life is excellent out of the box! Did not do any tuning or powertop!. 40 percent brightness.
Benchmarking in Fedora Basemark Web 3.0 (close to worst case)
Note: I do have 2 onedrive syncs enabled in Windows 11, which could cause the extra battery usage. But Fedora feels snappier on battery as well.
