This is why I steer away from them. It seems like since the project to demedicalize transseuality went mainstream, trans people became so poorly socialized and restricted to their own insular communities that they:
- Don’t know how to behave publicly and
- Are not self-aware enough to see when they are making a fool out of themselves and by extension the entire “community” in front of others
So just because I have a medical transsex condition doesn’t mean I have to share a space with those kinds of people. The transgenderists can accuse people like me of being “self-hating” or having “internalized transphobia” all they want, but they are barking at a tree because I don’t care. Being stealth and dissociating myself from the mess that is the modern “trans” community is a form of self-preservation.
This is also why I don’t take personally when people are transphobic because a lot of the time, they are that way because their entire concept of what a trans person is has been defined by the loud, obnoxious, and socially awkward transgender/gender expansive crowd, and that behaviour simply doesn’t align with me. I don’t have to live my life in the same constraints as them because I don’t behave or present myself in a similar manner, and the world around me responds differently to me because of it.
