Apologies if this is posted a lot, but I’ve been thinking about the whole “haha twilight DEFINITELY has OCD guys” thing. I’m currently rewatching My Little Pony (it’s my favorite show ever) and Twilight is my favorite. She’s very relatable and I love her a lot. I’ve seen a lot of people say that they think Twilight has OCD, and personally, I disagree. I think a lot of people saying this don’t actually know what OCD is. Yes, Twilight is very organized, has a routine, and gets upset if it’s interrupted. But the thing is, these aren’t inherently traits of OCD! These are more traits of Autism if anything, which I personally headcanon her as. I get super annoyed at people thinking OCD is just being neat and organized, because that’s not what it is at all! A lot of people in the OCD community joke that they are anything but neat and organized. OCD is usually categorized by someone having intrusive thoughts, and having to perform compulsions in order to make them go away or resolve them. For example, thinking, “If I don’t open and close this door 20 times, my friends will die”. There are many different types of OCD (the example I used is an example of Magical Thinking), I would recommend doing your research. So, yes, people with OCD can get super stressed if one of their compulsions is to make everything neat and organized, or having a strict schedule. But we don’t see Twilight ever having any types of intrusive thoughts, which makes me think she does’t have OCD. Again, I headcanon her as autistic, because her hatred for getting her routines interrupted or needing a plan for everything is a very common autistic trait. Obviously headcanoning characters from a show is not very serious, but again it very much gets on my nerves when people mistake OCD just for being clean and neat.
