The other day I posted about Mario’s pizza. I hadn’t had it in over a decade. I remember going there as a kid and teenager. Great memories. Great pizza. Very nostalgic to me.
In the post a few people pointed out that it used to be called Marcos and they changed the name a few decades back. A few people, including me were doubting that. Turns out they are spot on. It opened as Marcos pizza in 1958!! Changed owners and the name in 1979. They just changed the “c” in Marcos to an “i” and now had Mario’s pizza. The building and neon sign out front have been there for over 67 years!
I thought it was a super cool fact about Tucson and wanted to share with anyone who didn’t know.
