I grew up in a household that adored James Bond. My first bond movie in theatre was Goldeneye but I had every bond vhs in my house as I grew up.
I adored Sean Connery, he was bond to my parents and to me, and as a kid I couldn’t get enough of Diamonds are Forever.
As I got older I was told it was the worst bond movie, despite die another day coming out when I was 14, I chocked it up to childhood ignorance.
But I just rewatched it, and its campy bond turned up to 100.
It’s for the best villains, best Bond girls, best one liners, best action and gadgets, it’s got 60s Vegas in spades. To me it’s everything I miss from James Bond distilled into one beautiful film.
And I’d go as far to argue everything that Austin powers mocked James Bond for came from this film.
I’m not saying it’s a good movie, but it’s a damn entertaining one.
