Hello again, some of the story might be a little jank but it’s part of the process. Anyways, lmk if you like the story. For ease the systems will have the same names, time will be based on earth and also when a civilization “owns” a system think kind of like stellaris with a Starbase around the relevant stars, not really that important though.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Humans are the most dangerous apex predators to ever evolve in our universe. All things considered without augmentation a human is rather weak compared to the rest of the species of the galaxy, they are not as strong as the Ta’kar, as durable as the Alphids or as fast as the Fete’r, but they did have some things that make them completely alien to the rest of the galaxy, and the most dangerous apex predator to ever grace the galaxy.

When humanity escaped the confines of the Sol 3 it sent shockwaves throughout the galactic community. Sol 3 was thought to be a death world, inhospitable to intelligent and psionic life, yet humanity proved that wrong. Previously the trader species known as the Ta’Kar colonized the system, they saw no need for terraforming and as such only colonized earth, but then according to Yordrax, the current keeper of their species, the colony in the span of one night, vanished. So, the council decided to just watch humanity for a time, humanity had only just scratched the surface of space travel, so the council rightfully assumed it’d be a long time before humanity exited the Sol system.

It would be fifty years later during a routine patrol that a Ta’kar cruiser found a human colony outside the Sol system, specifically a colony on both Proxima B and C. It wasn’t so much that the patrol found the colony, but more so that the colony found the patrol, as it wasn’t until a radio signal somehow reached them that patrol supervisor Drig, noticed something amiss. Radio signals weren’t used by any known space faring species in favor of the far faster psionic communication, but even still the company detected the signal all the same. Tracking down its source, to Proxima b, supervisor Drig thought it a good idea to investigate finding the first ever human colony to expand past the borders of the Sol system. Considering that neither Drig nor his personnel were trained for a first contact situation they would return to the nearest Ta’kar base for a proper ambassador. Upon ambassador Nembrax’s arrival she would immediately be informed and sent to meet the colony.

Every advanced civilization developed a psionic lobe that gave them psionics, every species had this but not humanity. Due to the lack of psionic capabilities in humanity ambassador Nembrax had no idea what to do, and no way to communicate so she retreated and called upon the entire galaxy. It would take 3 months of complete focus from the galaxy before a translation could be developed. Finally, first contact could proceed, and proceed it did. With the translations now acquired the galaxy would discover what humans were truly like, and they were shocked to find them quite accommodating and friendly. This friendliness was odd to say the least, in this galaxy kind species were often weak and would end up crushed by larger empires. The galaxy would later learn that this kindness was not out of fear of their weakness.

Hundreds of years would pass, and humanity would establish itself in the wider galaxy, though only take 3 systems, Sol, Alpha Centauri and Barnard’s star. Though Barnard’s star did not hold a colonizable planet humanity still took it because it held 4 small planets, perfect for harvesting. Now it’s about time to mention something that the civilizations discovered about humanity, that being that it wasn’t just that humanity had no psionics, they were anti-psionic, completely immune to all psionics and incapable of all psionics. This discovery caused further assumptions of the supposed “weakness” of humanity unknown to the galaxy, however, was that humanity made something to compensate for this perceived lacking of their species. They made robotic augmentations to make them better than even the fastest, most durable and strongest of any species, they made nanite swarms able to be controlled by a chip in the back of their mind capable of regenerating a human from complete destruction. Humanity, however, showed none of this, they instead showed kindness to the rest of the galaxy, often operating to aid suffering civilizations, so the galaxy looked down upon them as weak.

The first species to attack humanity were the Vrok’ed a species of intelligent arachnids. Vrok’ed fleets appeared in the Alpha Centauri system and opened fire upon Proxima b for three minutes, then vanished. Of course, humanity went before the galactic council to plead their case, but no civilization would listen, thinking humanity would go out like all the other weak species. The second attack would occur less than 3 days later, this time they opened fire for 8 minutes, then vanished once again. Like last time humanity would plead their case before the council, and again they would receive no response. When the human ambassador, “senator Armstrong” left the hall he said but one thing that would later terrify every species “very well.” The next attack would be the last attack the Vrok’ed would ever get to make on any species, as after, there were no Vrok’ed left.

The galaxy rightfully grew concerned upon the vanishing of their ally, one day they existed, and the next every one of their worlds were barren of all organic material. There were no signals sent in distress, just utter silence as a entire civilization vanished. Close allies to the Vrok’ed would blame humanity for this, but there was no evidence, and what were they going to do? attack a species that potentially wiped out their ally in an instant? Unfortunately, the Alphids and Fete’r were foolish enough to do so.

It would only take three months for their fleets to organize and arrive in the Centauri system there they would discover energy shields eerily similar to those of the Vrok’ed. Humanities new and similar tech sent warning bells to the galaxy as they watched the conflict, but the Alphids and Fete’r ignored it. Unable to see any amount of reason, the fleets immediately opened fire upon both Proxima B and C, then humanity unveiled the first horror of theirs the galaxy would discover. From the instant the fleet arrived in the Centauri system a signal was sent out, that instantly reached Barnard’s Star. Instantly as combined might of the Alphid and Fete’r fleet rained down upon the planets the largest weapon created in the history of the galaxy appeared. Humanity had hollowed out each planet of Barnard’s star, and turned them into massive weapons, housing trillions of smaller ships and guns big enough to blow up continents. Alphid and Fete’r couldn’t compete, their fleet was wiped out less than 5 minutes after they opened fire, and 4 hours after that, neither species existed.

The galactic council horrified by this monstrosity called Humanities ambassador before them. In the hall they shouted condemnation after condemnation at humanity, and Armstrong? Armstrong just laughed at them. “It was your council that chose not to listen to us, now you fear the consequences?” Finally, the galaxy discovered what monstrosity they had invited, and Armstrong just kept laughing, at a joke only humanity was aware of. After intense deliberation the council then decided to give a “demonstration” to humanity, of their power, this was the final mistake. Underneath where Armstrong was standing was a localized bomb, it had strength several times that of a nuclear weapon but would only damage a couple foot radius around Armstrong. Setting off this bomb would be a demonstration to humanity that the galaxy does not fear them, that they are but bugs beneath their feat. Dust settled from the explosion, and there was only molten metal, then an odd cloud appeared, it devoured all the matter and energy within a 20-meter radius of itself, and slowly as the council watched, built Armstrong back into perfect shape, augmentations and all. There, as soon as his voice box came back, Armstrong just laughed, even harder than before. There, the galaxy learned that humanities kindness was not a weakness, no, it was a mercy, it suppressed the violent monster Humanity contained, and the galaxy had just let it loose upon themselves.

Three years later, I am the last of any species, now there is only the human empire, in a galaxy that holds only them in the ever-expansive void. This galaxy will not hold them for long, and I pray that the next lifeforms do not make the same mistake we did.

Hope you enjoyed the story. It was a bit of a darker take on humanity. I plan to make a semi-similar thing humans will basically be the same in the anti-psionic and end up like a predator civilization. I hope the appearance of senator Armstrong gave a bit of a laugh. Anyways, just like with my previous story all critiques are welcome and encouraged. Next story I’m going to try out some dialogue as I found the secret to naming………. smash the keyboard and then alter it with vowels.
