First off, I never believed in ghosts until I worked nights in a prison and then I was a convert as a lot of weird things happen in prison at night - banging gates that are pulled wide open to allow staff access / dark corners that reach out at you when you walk past, the feeling of being followed etc, but anyway I digress…

Last year we moved into an old vicarage. Lovely house, perfect for us. I arrive first and got the keys as my husband was sorting the movers and making sure the house was packed up.

After I did the customary walk around I was sitting on the stairs waiting for him to arrive working out what order we were going to do things and making notes on the stairs when a door closed on its on. Odd but cool, must just need an adjustment.

As the move was over 2 days (relocating from midlands UK to North Yorkshire) we had a blow up bed for the first night. In the morning I was rudely awoken by a loud bang and the bung had been removed from the blowup bed and it deflated very quickly. I made a comment about the door the day before and was told that no, the house isn’t haunted and the bung must has just not been in properly.

Fast forward a year later and we have had the following:

One bedroom door regularly opens and closes on its own. It fits into the latch and is secure 99% of the time and you always have to turn the knob to enter the room.

Loud bang in the middle of the night. The mirror in the bathroom fell off the wall and smashed into pieces.

Digital scales in the bathroom turn on and do the ‘thinking’ icon when it works out weight.

Laying in bed and hearing a door knob rattle a few times, the door then opens and closes after itself.

Motion sensor light in the hallway activating when we are in bed

Both of us downstairs and hear noises upstairs. Eventually go up and find my iPad has unlocked itself and playing YouTube videos

Everything happens on the second floor (3 floor house) and is confined to one corner of that floor (bedroom 3, bathroom next door and the hallway area between the two rooms). Everything that has happened doesn’t bother me apart from having to drop £50 on a new mirror. The problem is no one else believes me including my husband who always tries to rationalise everything. Apparently ghosts wont know how to use an iPad and why would it want to open and close doors when it can just walk through walls are some of the replies when I raise the ghost has been active again. Whats everyone else’s experiences with ghosts and modern technology (can they use it?) and thoughts on if the house is haunted? I’m a firm believer and don’t want to force others to believe but other views would be good.
