My contractor installed a Wyndham Grayley acrylic tub and during the process of installation and tiling, it got chipped in a number of places inside the tub. The biggest chip is about the area of a pencil eraser, but not anywhere near as deep. He used epoxy from a tub repair kit to fill the chips, but they don’t match the color of the rest of the surface and stand out quite a bit.

He offered to have the tub refinished by a professional company. I looked at their website and the care and maintenance guide says that we’ll need to do things like wax the surface every 1–3 months and towel dry the tub. That sounds ridiculous for a brand new tub, but I have no idea how else to make the repair work.

Am I going to regret this solution? Should I live with the epoxy repair they did? What would you suggest?
