Thought this may be relevant to those of you who have a vehicle with a HUD and use Google Maps with Apple Carplay. It appears that maneuvering/direction metadata from Google Maps on Carplay can now be displayed on your car’s windshield projected HUD (Previously only Carplay + Apple Maps supported this, or Android Auto + Google Maps/Waze). It may be a server side update though, as one of my Google Accounts has it enabled while another does not.

In other words, if you have an iPhone and your car is currently able to display Apple Maps directions on your HUD, I would assume Google Maps should also work as of today (assuming the update has been pushed to your account).

Have personally confirmed it to be working on multiple cars with Toyota’s new Audio Multimedia System (which debuted with the 2022 Tundra).
