I (F40) have a good career and assets I inherited from my parents, who died two years ago, due to covid. I am childfree and live with my partner.

One of my cousins’ kid is getting married. I gave the kid a sum as a gift, so they can use it for whatever they need for wedding or save for future. It’s not a large sum, but a good wedding gift.

Yesterday her parents came over and asked me if I am giving rest of the money at the wedding. I was confused. I said, no that’s the gift.

They called me cheap for giving so little when I had so much.

I told them I do have stuff, it’s something I either made or my parents gave me. I also have my own life.

They said since I don’t have kids and have so much money, I should be helping my nieces and nephews more. That I can easily afford a bigger gift.

I told them what I have is mine to spend too and I have my own plans for the money, like travel.

They said I am a selfish AH for prioritising fun trips over my nibling’s future.

AITA?
