So here we are—summer holiday 2025. My wife and her family think it’s weird that I bring my Steam Deck on holiday. Something about “holidays are for relaxing” blah blah… For context, none of them are gamers, so I kind of get where they’re coming from. But hey—it’s my holiday too, and gaming is how I relax. Without it, I’d just be bored sitting around the apartment in the evenings when we’re not out eating or spending time together.

One of the main reasons I brought it was to get through Split Fiction with my son—gaming is one of our main bonding things, and this is prime time to actually enjoy that together.

Right now I’m into racing games after finishing Horizon Chase with my mates. I just got EmuDeck set up and am having a blast with Burnout 3: Takedown from PS2 (minus the Smash Crash events—those are kind of dull, tbh). Any recommendations for other fun racers? Bonus points for split-screen co-op or battle modes.

So yeah—anyone else get side-eyes or sighs from the family for bringing the Deck along? Please share your stories of eye-rolls and passive-aggressive comments so I don’t feel quite so alone with my vacation button-bashing 😅

Happy summer, everyone! Hope you all get to squeeze in some quality game time. 🎮🌞
