‘Have a real conversation.’ ‘Make a new friend.’ The creepiest one was ‘she can be whatever you want her to be’.
I don’t use AI. Haven’t clicked the ads. But it’s showing up everywhere for me. Snapchat made that stupid AI bot that you can’t delete from your conversations.
It makes me so uncomfortable on the most basic level. Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything but it just seems… wrong? Like it’s trivializing humanity or showing how much we’ve lost?
Someone posted in another sub that their autistic son has an AI friend on his iPad and it just gave me the eebie jeebies.
I admit I live a pretty ‘natural’ rural life. I rarely eat out. I don’t shop the latest brands or have the latest phone, I just learned my phone has the scan function in the camera during covid lock down. I’m not very consumerist. I don’t even have a TV. But I’m an avid gamer, I work in healthcare so see people every day. I’m not living in a monastery, but I don’t see advertising a lot.
Am I just super out of touch?? Like, is this completely normal now and not something out of a sci-fi?
