I really enjoy helping customers by knowing where things are and helping them find what they’re looking for. Sometimes they have a question about something outside of the store and I have the gossip with info they’re looking for. Like yes, this specific brand of store is opening on our street, in fact I know where; it is where that other specific store used to be. Anyway, this makes me feel like a video game NPC purveyor of rumors and local knowledge and it’s a fun feeling. A generic character who nonetheless is informative and helpful is who I strive to be, and I’m happy to help my customers on their own little shopping quests (so long as they’re polite of course).
