My co-worker always asks for a ride home (it’s about 15 minutes out of my way) and I oblige because we end late at night. But today she snitched on me for being on my phone during my downtime. We have a no phone allowed policy but everyone uses it and tries to hide it when the supervisor does his rounds around the facility. We have 1-3 hours of downtime between work and time moves extremely slowly without any mental or physical stimulation so I can’t help it. I was just browsing Reddit for some memes and put the phone away as soon as I heard the manager walking in, she was so immersed in her phone that she couldn’t put her phone away in time and got caught. When my manager told her to put her phone away and why she was breaking the rule, she pointed at me and said “how come he was also using it and so does everyone else, just let us. It doesn’t affect our work performance anyways”. Now my manager targets me and now I have to give him my phone during my shifts for the next month. I’m so flabbergasted that I just don’t want anything to do with this woman again. WIBTA for just denying her request?
