I set up my base and farm, turned on ‘Keep Inventory’ on death, and now anytime I start the game I load up on supplys and then just book it in a random direction with no intention on ever turning around.

Removing the need to feel like you should be setting down markers to find your way back and just gunning it towards the horizon really allows you to just live in the world instead of feeling like youre trying to actively map it all out.

Eventually I end up in a situation I can’t survive, I starve, I fall into lava, and I’m back at base with all my new loot, ready to gear up and try another direction.

I haven’t really played all that intensely in years, but simply changing how the gameplay loop works is, well, a gamechanger if youre burned out on the same old.
