Having owned my steam deck for just a week at this point, I can already tell it is a significantly better than the ally. The user experience is leaps and bounds more intuitive, particularly in the fact that I don’t have to play games through windows. The steam deck feels like a console, especially the pick up and playability of it (which is preferable in handheld format). Using the ally was a slog from logging into windows and then loading the games. Additionally, even though the steam deck is comparatively underpowered compared to the ally it runs games just as well or even better!
If you’re buying a handheld computer you’re buying it for its portability and usability (pick up and play). Why else would you except a smaller screen and humble specs. If you got here because you’re trying to figure out which handheld computer to buy… just get a steam deck bro.
