Now what?

I’ve got unRAID installed and started an array on an old desktop to prove things out before I build a dedicated machine.

I want to host an offsite backup for my parents, mainly photos and some documents. What do I need to install to be able to do that for them?

Everywhere I look, I see suggestions on what to use but with little advice on what needs to be installed first as a prerequisite. It feels like I’m doing algebra without knowing that I need to multiply before I add.

I’ve got PhotoPrism running and can open it on my local network. How do I safely allow it to be accessed from an off-site network?

Mom has a handful of loose hard drives that she swaps between when she is digitizing old family photos. How should I bring those hard drives into the array without losing the data on them?

Is there a list of utilities/plug-ins/apps that should be used on most unRAID servers?

Any suggestions on hardware for the final machine are welcome too.
