Since this gets asked so often,

HOW TO USE

Regular PTO:

  1. Go into MyWalmart Mobile App
  2. Under the “Your Schedule” box where it shows your job title and today’s shift, click “View Full Schedule”
  3. Wait for it to load, then click “My Requests” at the top under the blue bar that says “Full Schedule”
  4. Select the “+ Add new” button
  5. Select “Request Time Off”
  6. Select the day(s) you want off. If it’s not over 3 weeks out, it will get rejected.
  7. Click “Next”
  8. If you don’t want the whole shift off, flip the switch by “All Day Time Off” and pick the start and end time you want to use PTO for. If you want all day off, leave “All Day Time Off” toggled on.
  9. Select “PTO”
  10. Select how many hours of PTO you want to use to cover your time off
  11. Select reason for request (put whatever you want, no one will verify anyway)
  12. Select “Review”, and make sure everything is correct.
  13. Click “Submit”.

Unpaid Time Off

  1. Go into MyWalmart Mobile App

  3. Wait for it to load, then click “My Requests” at the top under the blue bar that says “Full Schedule”
  4. Select the “+ Add new” button
  5. Select “Request Time Off”
  6. Select the day(s) you want off. If it’s not over 3 weeks out, it will get rejected.
  7. Click “Next”
  8. Select “Unpaid Time Off”. If you don’t want the whole shift off, flip the switch by “All Day Time Off” and pick the start and end time you want to use time off for. If you want all day off, leave “All Day Time Off” toggled on.
  9. Select a reason for request
  10. Click “review” and make sure it’s correct.
  11. Click “Submit”

PPTO— Absence

  1. Go into MyWalmart Mobile App
  2. Under the “Your Schedule” box where it shows your job title and today’s shift, click “View Full Schedule”
  3. Wait for it to load, then click “+Add New” then “Report an Absence”. You’ll need to report the absence by 11:59 pm on the day of the absence to not get a no call no show point.
  4. Select the date of the absence (Today or Tomorrow) under the prompt
  5. Clarify if you’ll be absent or late that day under the next prompt
  6. Select the reason for the absence
  7. Click “Review” and verify what you put is correct
  8. Click “Submit”
  9. Click the back arrow in upper left corner
  10. Assuming it’s after the start of the shift, click “+ Add new”— if it’s not yet the start of the shift, wait until the start of the shift.
  11. Click “Request Time Off”
  12. Select the date you need off
  13. Leave “all day time off” toggled on
  14. Select “Protected PTO” and put “8 hours” or the total number of hours in your scheduled shift that day, minus lunch if your shift includes one.
  15. Click “review”, and then verify all is correct
  16. Click “Submit”

PPTO— Tardy

  1. Clock in late
  2. Go into MyWalmart app
  3. Under “My Schedule” click “View Full Schedule”
  4. Wait for it to load, then click “+ Add New”, then “Request time off”
  5. Select the date of the tardy
  6. Untoggle “All Day Time Off”
  7. Specify start and end time of time off
  8. Select Protected PTO and put in an amount that will fully cover your tardy. If you are late enough you’re not getting a lunch, it will unfortunately have to cover your lunch too unless you want to fight your HR about it. Note that if you’re, for example, 16 minutes late, you’ll have to use 30 minutes of PPTO, not 15. 9 minute grace periods do not count for anything once you’re later than 9 minutes late, either.
  9. Select a reason for request
  10. Select “Review” and check it is correct
  11. Select “Submit”

PPTO— Early Out

  1. Inform any salaried member of management of your early out and when you’re going (salaried management include coaches and store managers), preferably the one for your area
  2. Clock out when you’re leaving early.
  3. Go into MyWalmart app
  4. Under “My Schedule” click “View Full Schedule”
  5. Wait for it to load, then click “+ Add New”, then “Request time off”
  6. Select the date of the tardy
  7. Untoggle “All Day Time Off”
  8. Specify start and end time of time off
  9. Select Protected PTO and put in an amount that will fully cover your tardy. If you are leaving early enough you’re not getting a lunch, it will unfortunately have to cover your lunch too unless you want to fight your HR about it. Sometimes they may let you take your lunch and then clock out so you don’t have to do this, if you’re able. Note that if you’re, for example, 16 minutes early going home, you’ll have to use 30 minutes of PPTO, not 15. 9 minute grace periods do not count for anything once you’re later than 9 minutes early out, either.
  10. Select a reason for request
  11. Select “Review”
  12. Click “Submit”

Differences between the 3

Unpaid Time Off— Must be put in 3+ wks out and approved. If approved, you will not get attendance points for this date. However, you won’t be paid for that day.

PTO— Normal paid time off. Must be put in 3+ wks in advance and approved to not get attendance points. You have to have enough to cover the full shift to use it I believe. You will be paid for PTO days. Technically you can use it retrospectively, but unless your manager makes a special exception, using it retrospectively won’t prevent you from getting points. However, it will pay you for the day you used it retrospectively on.

PPTO— Used for unplanned absences and emergencies, and while you can request future dates off with it, these can be denied. Instead, it’s better to use it after the fact. I believe you have 7 days from the date of the absence to put it in. As long as you do it after the start of the missed time, it can’t be denied. You MUST still report the absence/early out to not receive NSCS points. Tardies do not need reported. You can use them for both early in and early out on the same day but they’ll have to be a separate request for each. No one can tell you no about going home early, either. Do not phrase it as a question. Say “Hey, I have to go home early today at (time).” If they say you can’t, tell them you know that’s not the case and that you’re happy to climb the chain of command about it if you have to.

LOAs are for any absence that causes you to be out for 3+ days. That’s a whole other process that involves Sedgewick. They’re not just for horrific events, it can be for the Flu or an injury or some such. But you’ll need to go to the doctor to get medical LOAs approved. There’s other LOA types too. There’s other posts on LOAs, I will leave that to the people who know the ins and outs of them well.

Always keep an eye on your points anytime you make a PPTO submission; sometimes the system can have an issue that makes it think your shift is longer than it is due to lunch related things even if you took your lunch. Your coach or people lead can help you get any system screwup points removed. I haven’t had issues with this in a long time now but as often as they screw up the system it’s worth checking.
