Hi all! This is my first time on the Havanese subreddit, but I wanted to post a warning about this breeder for anyone who’s looking for a Havanese puppy now or in the future, as they are not trustworthy and will potentially scam you. In 2021, my family adopted a 6 month old male Havanese from Noah’s Little Ark, run by Duane Culp. He was in good health when we picked him up and he has been a wonderful companion since then. He has a great disposition and has had no health issues so far. This summer, we decided that we wanted to get a second Havanese, and because our experience with Noah’s Little Ark had been great the first time around, we went back to them. In July, we picked out a female ‘puppy’ and reserved her after a FaceTime call, and we finally picked her up a week ago. However, I took her to her first veterinary appointment today, where they informed me that she’s actually estimated to be between 7 and 8 years old. We already adore her and will be keeping her in our home and doing our best to provide any extra care she’s in need of. However, on top of paying the price that Duane charged for a ‘puppy’ when we would not have paid the same amount for an older dog, we are now looking at paying for a dental cleaning and extraction, treatment for an ear infection and skin infection, and an ophthalmology consultation due to the possibility of her having cataracts. While I’m so happy that she has a home now and will be taken care of and loved, I wanted to post a PSA so that other people don’t end up in the same situation that we have.
Edit: Adding that Duane also provided us with false paperwork claiming an incorrect birth date, and that because of this, her medical record may be falsified or incorrect. When contacted about this situation, he also read my message but has so far failed to respond in any way.
