I really hate this generalized idea that neurodivergence comes with strengths that are above average than neurotypicals, when, as someone who’s been diagnosed since I was 6, that was sadly not the case for me -don’t have stuff such as pattern recognition, attention to detail, or logical thinking. etc.

Those psychoeducational assessments that I used to do back then when I was younger, I had absolutely NOTHING that I was above average at all… And most of it was in the below-average range. Highest being non-verbal reasoning… 21st percentile, which ofc, still falls within the below average range…

If there were a cure for autism, I would 100% take it because my autism did NOTHING good for me at all. It is 100% a deficit for me.

If only my autism were instead asperger’s syndrome, as I was born with a higher level of autism, ofc I’m gonna have more significant deficits, especially in cognitive.

It really sucks that there’s nothing I can do about it, because sadly, I didn’t really get lucky with my genetics.

EDIT: btw why am I given the fun/creative flair? This post wasn’t meant for creativity or fun at all, it was more like just a vent.
