(I’m in Canada) I unfortunately work a retail job. I only started like two weeks ago, and I had no experience in this particular area of retail before this. I’ve worked other retail jobs though. I like my coworkers and they all had either extensive prior experience in this field/or had schooling for this area. Again I had neither.

And yet corporate forced me and the other low earning coworker to be the only ones working on holidays. I’m going to be alone for a couple of hours and while yes I have some knowledge now, I cannot provide the level of service my more senior coworkers can (like there are many things I cannot do). And if I say sorry I cannot do particular thing come another day to customers they will obviously be mad because it’s a holiday and they have to wait until the weekend (or whenever they next have a day off). The most ironic thing is that having customers be happy with the service is the company’s top priority and during not adequate training they said we’ll be supported.
