While in my college i used to work at a busy cafe, and one afternoon I got a table that tested my patience in ways I didn’t think were possible.

So the story goes like - They ordered three dishes. Five minutes later, they waved me over: Actually, can we change the second item? Make it something else.

I smiled and said sure. Five minutes later, they waved me again: We want the original item back.

I nodded and changed it again. Another ten minutes passed. I’m mid-task when I hear: We changed our minds, cancel the whole order. I explained the kitchen had already started cooking, so we couldn’t cancel without wasting food. They sighed dramatically and said fine they’d eat it.

They ate everything… except one bite. Then called me over: Can we take this last bite to go? I blinked. They nodded as if this was totally normal. As they were leaving, they said:bActually… can we get a refund? The order was too complicated.

I just smiled and said no. They walked away, leaving the kitchen laughing for the rest of the day.

Moral of the story: some customers treat service like an improv show and expect you to keep up. Lol
