I went to an iPhone repair shop to change my battery, the guy asked me for my passcode cause “they needed it to activate the battery”. I refused to give them the passcode, they insisted but I did not give up cause i was scared to give them full access to my phone. Eventually they said that we could activate it together with no need for the passcode.

Is it true that they needed the passcode? Or they just wanted to nose around my phone?
