Given the current trend of defacing any and all public areas with wonkily drawn, ill-proportioned red crosses and EDL slogans, I thought it might be useful to share some quick links to the local reporting pages.

It’s easy to assume someone else will have done it already, so the more people report individual instances, the more likely it is to actually be fixed (maybe still not likely likely, but more likely).

I’d like to think that the sheer volume of people who don’t want their neighbourhoods to become billboards for nationalism should be able to outmatch the local EDL contingent and all the red spraypaint they can afford.

Council Reporting

Get some value out of you council tax by reporting your locally St. George-ified bins, lampposts and paths.

Transport Reporting

If however your local Yaxley-Lennon impersonator has been targetting Metro stations, try the options below.

Non-Reporting

For those of you who prefer a bureaucracy free, more direct alternative, or whose councils are simply unable to support…

I have no idea - I’m not an artist. But I do know graffiti can be an offence of criminal damage and can be reported to your local police force via 101.

In the name of balance

Of course, I’m sure some readers here are in favour of emblazoning every visible surface in their neighbourhood with the same copy-pasted cross for miles around.

To those readers, could you please try and learn the proportions of the England flag, so your efforts don’t look like they were crayoned by a six year old who has inhaled too much sherbet.

The ratio is 3:5. The red is Pantone 186C. The cross spreads 12% of the width of the flag and 20% of its height, centred on both the horizontal and vertical axes. All lines are straight.

Amazon also sell something called “masking tape” which helps new artists to colour inside the lines.
