And I thoroughly enjoyed it! Macon Blair did a great job staying true to Troma while carrying the film to a more modern and mainstream audience.
The dialogue in this movie is hilarious. Slicing a guys scalp off then being like “listen up, these dudes suck!” made me laugh. I like the rock n roll metal vibe they gave winston/melvin in this movie. Gives it some edge and I’m sure appeals to a lot of fans.
Kevin Bacon was perfect in the villain role as was Elijah Wood with his full penguin-esqe evil henchman look.
The movie actually had a lot of heart especially with the father-son wounded relationship arc.
There was a healthy amount of gore in this movie but I’d say half of it was cgi which was a bummer. The practical effects on Toxie were extremely well done and fit the troma vibe.
