Taking a different angle to the discussion, but if Apple plans on shifting resources to the glasses version. Why even do the M5 version at all? What is the business reason?
Has Apple really sold through all of its M2 stock and needs more AVPs to satiate demand, and since its not making M2 chips, its starting up the assembly lines with the M5? I thought the screen was the bottleneck, so has that been rectified and now the chip is the only thing holding up supply? I have not heard stories that the current inventory is low, but let me know.
I do remember a Kuo article awhile back saying they had a lot of the other AVP components sitting in a warehouse gathering dust, so did they just need some more chips so they could assemble a couple more headsets to clear out that inventory??
Just trying to understand the business end for why Apple is doing a midcycle chip update on a pretty niche product line when their resources are supposedly being shifted elsewhere. I would think Apple would be happy to sell out the AVP to stir demand for a future product like the glasses. If there still is M2 supply, why shoot that in the foot just to sell some newer M5’s.
