I called an uber today and when it was en route I got a phone call that started with a recorded “This Uber call will be recorded for quality monitoring purposes.”

Then a guy on the phone said Uber was having trouble with my location tracking, and they were going to send me a code to log in again, and I needed to tell him what it was.

I said that I was uncomfortable with that and he started telling me, “You need to do this, check your uber app and you’ll see the driver is not moving, please tell me the code.”

The driver also sent me a message telling me that I needed to fix my location immediately.

It felt off but I was taking my grandmother home and she was tired so I got flustered and told the guy on the phone my codes.

As soon as I ended the call I realised I’d made a mistake, and immediately cancelled the ride, changed my Uber password, and added more layers of authentication.

Anyone experienced something similar?
