Or something like that, I don’t remember exactly what the activity was, but an acquaintance posted that on Facebook, all caps and everything. Went on to explain that his wife “doesn’t want to be the only female.” Barely awake just beginning my morning toilet-scroll, this is the first thing I see. Lots of comments, I’m a little curious. Click.

First comment is a woman gently explaining that some of us don’t respond well when we’re referred to that way. “Not trying to make a big deal or anything,” almost apologetic. “It can come off as dehumanizing in certain context.” You can imagine how this was received.

Nice-guy hubby responds that firstly, he doesn’t care. Second, he asked his wife and she said it’s okay. Just so you guys know, Jen says it’s fine and she speaks for all of us.

Next up, another woman shouting “Pick me!” while simultaneously suggesting that trans women are illegitimate in some way; she’s unclear specifically how.

Third, some other dude expressing his frustration with “3rd wave feminism” and then calling the first woman a cunt for… reasons?

First woman tags nice-guy hubby in her reply, “you cool with this?”

Hubby responds “Am I that guy?” before doubling down on the fact that he doesn’t care.

I didn’t read any more, just unfriended nice-guy hubby and got off the toilet. I hope wifey is able to make some “FEMALE” friends of her own someday. Yeesh.
