Mostly just putting this out there to vent a little bit.
I served a mission in Eastern Canada, and once winter my companion and I got locked outside of our cabin during a massive blizzard. We were outside because as district leader at the time I was required to go to the church to do a weekly Skype call with the ZL’s to report our Key Indicators, and they refused to cancel the meeting even though it was dangerous for us to leave the house.
We were locked outside for about two hours before we were able to get back into the house. It was -37c (-35F) outside, and I ended up with severe frostbite in my hands and ears and other various appendages. That pday I was not allowed to tell my family what had happened, and was instructed to down-play it as nothing.
Well, here we are over a decade later, I never got all of the feeling back in my fingers, and I now have to wear hearing aids because of nerve damage from the frostbite. It breaks my heart some days as I’m a professional musician, and I’ll never be able to hear the same way I did prior to that incident. The MFMC really just takes everything from you and gives nothing in return.
