Background; My dad is living off grid, got some dirt cheap used 250 panels (CS6P-250P). I’m good with electricity but I don’t know enough about solar to help him get the equipment he needs to get his system setup, so I’m hoping you guys can help me out. Here’s the specs that I found on the panels:
- Voc: 37.2V
- Isc: 8.87A
- Wattage: 250
They’re used so they’re not in top shape anymore, but they’re still putting out 30 Voc on a cloudy day. Hoping to get at least 2500W out of the system total but sticker value would be 3000. He currently has 2x 300Ah lithium batteries which he had been charging off a single 200w panel.
Questions:
- Series or parrallel wiring? 2500w over 24v (assuming) is 104A, way too much for parallel imo, but are their resonably price charge controllers available for 300v DC input off parrallel?
- The batteries are both 12v, would it make sense to wire those in series for 24v? He currently only has a 3000W 12v inverter. Would need an upgraded 24v inverter if the charge controller doesn’t include one.
- Recommendations on equipment? He’s not rich by any stretch but isn’t against spending some cash.
Thanks!
