Hello Geordies, I visited your city for the first time in my life last July. I’m from Ireland, I’ve supported Newcastle since I was just about able to walk, I couldn’t afford to go earlier in life but I finally got over and I have to say the city gets an incredibly bad reputation from other people within the U.K and I don’t understand why?

I wasn’t in every inch of the city but I was in a good chunk of it, walking around and getting buses and I thought for the most part thought the city was amazing, safe and not bad on the eye either.

Every person I talked to and that I was around was lovely, most lovely city of people I’ve ever met. I just don’t understand where the narrative that the city is a ‘dump’ comes from? I’ve been to far worse dumps in my own country, including the capital Dublin and I’ve been to Birmingham aswell as Coventry. None of those cities mentioned are as nice or have great people across the board like in Newcastle.

I just don’t understand where the narrative comes from, and I’ve seen it enough! Anyways rant over, thank you for having me and I hope to be back someday to see the mags in proper action (if the tickets are ever not impossible to get!).
