It’s so confusing to me. Even on this sub, I’ve talked to people who justify very judgemental and rude behavior towards me based on my enthusiasm and approch towards debates.

It’s not a restricted interest or anything, I enjoy debating because it’s intellectually stimulating and fills me with dopamine (I’m AuDHD). My country, France, treats debates casually.

I won’t lie, it’s usually americans. They will openly disagree with me, I defend my arguments in a respectful manner, they will then usually ad hominem me (attack me or my knowledge instead of the argument itself), and it ends in me being in trouble despite arguing with a WILLING contestant and staying very respectful throughout, even when they do not.

Why do people act like arguments must be avoided? I’d get immensely bored if everyone agreed with me. I’m tired of this anti-debate sentiment everyone has. You can’t debate with me for like 2 hours and then tell me you didn’t enjoy it or want to do it, what the heck!!
