First time posting here purely because, after some of the hyperbole I’ve heard about this result from pundits who are paid to say incendiary things to wind us all up, I wanted to say something to my younger fellow Liverpool fans: it’s honestly ok. Today we lost a game of football to the worst team we can lose to. At home. That really _f_ stings. And understandably so. We’ve grown accustomed to having things go our way for so long this result feels like a personal affront to all of us.

But this is a new team. Only half the people who played today, provided you squint correctly, were starters for us last season. For the first time since I’ve followed the team we’ve spent a lot and changed a lot of starting players at the same time. This is new ground for all of us, particularly for the boss who has been lumped with the task of trying to quickly force all of these very talented players into a team together and get them up to speed as soon as possible. The way that happens is by them playing and winning and losing and drawing together. That’s the only way any team coheres.

It’s gonna take some time.

The stats showed we were lucky in the early season and we rode that luck to the top of the table despite not really deserving it. And now we’re on a bad streak of results despite deserving more. It will come back around. There is no reason why the players in this team aren’t perfectly capable of getting a run together and firing us right back up there. We already did in our first few games when we were bang average. And our main competitors have already shown that they can drop points even though right now we feel like they’re untouchable.

We won the league last season, lads. We won it five years ago too, and we were the best club in Europe and the world four years ago. Four games on the bounce is a blip. It’ll come good. And even if it doesn’t happen to be this season it will again soon, I personally promise you. Feel free to let me know if it doesn’t. I’ll find us some good games to watch while we wait together. I will try to convince you that the Liverpool team of 2007/2008 were the best Liverpool team of all time bar none despite all evidence to the contrary, though, so be warned.

YNWA :)
