Edit 2: so TIL that my experience in Autistic communities over the past 15 years or so may have been more “sterilized”. I speak with other Autistic people on a near daily basis, and I was genuinely unaware that some of us in the community do want to be cured of Autism. I’m sorry my post felt invalidating to some. Hearing “we all want to cure Autism” like it’s a disease or plague on society from an allistic person was upsetting for me. But Autistic people absolutely have the right to speak on if they want to be cured. Thank you yo those of you who were patient and provided me with some new perspective.

Edit: since some of yall like to make cute assumptions about people, I am formally diagnosed and have been for over 15 years, and I may need fewer support needs in some areas of my life, but if I lived alone, I’d literally no longer be here anymore. I was also nonverbal for the first 7 years of my life. Not sure why yall need this to be the pity games of whose got it the worst. I’ve had nearly two decades of therapy to try to ensure that I am still here today. Thanks!

Started watching a new Jubliee video - I know, they’re awful, and it’s totally rage bait - but I wasn’t expecting to ragequit after one of the leftists who I typically agree with said something…

They were discussing the Tylenol x Autism link bullshit, and ofc, Naima (known leftist on Jubliee videos) was saying it’s not evidence of causation. But then she said, “We all want a cure for Autism”, and I flipped out!

I am so tired of allistic people spouting off as if they are educated on Autism and thinking our community WANTS to be cured? No thanks. I like my brain. I am a DEEPLY empathetic person. I am extremely detailed. I bring a lot of value - and a reminder to you, dear community, that you bring value too.

I’m sure most of us in bad times have asked, “Why do I have to have this brain?” But ultimately it’s because the average allistic person (especially neurotypical people) can’t be bothered to ever be consistent in their communication, or straight forward.

But they want to eradicate US?! And think the average Autistic person would think of it as a good service to us?! Fuck that! And I’m also so tired of “Autism moms” who seem to want to off their children because they’re annoyed with them. But that’s no new topic of complaint amongst friends here, I know 😅🥲
