My wife, toddler and myself stayed in a newer cabin in WV near Canaan Valley and Blackwater falls and the moment we got in the cabin it felt off.
The only other time I felt like a place was haunted I chalked it up to being young. My dad remodeled a house I heard things my brother heard things and when we moved into a 200 year old house I slept for the first time. Other than that I have not had another experience.
First experience: Felt drained when arriving at the cabin. I have stayed in probably 20 carvings in the Appalachia and not once have I felt the need to nap first thing when getting to one. I am normally way too excited and this trip I immediately fell asleep on the bed after taking my shoes off. My wife and toddler woke me up two hours later.
Second experience: I was setting up the hot tub and felt like I was being watched and in the corner of my eye a motion detected light when on. These aren’t flood lights they are on the stairs that activate when walking down so can see the steps. Each step has its own sensor and each step kept light up. I looked for animals nothing and I noticed this only happened when I was outside not when my wife was.
Third: all week I was drained I normally am the first one up and I am doing a solo hike by 5:30am and consistently I was the first one to bed last one to wake up and felt the need for naps which I never do. When we left the cabin I almost felt a slight recharge. I am always a happy cheery guy however I felt off almost depressed.
Fourth: random breathing sounds on the baby monitor it was too tall for my daughter. Sometimes almost sounding like someone blowing into a mic with the static and rasp of someone blowing into a mic.
Fifth: heard whimpering that almost sounds like my one dog but he was at home
Sixth:just always felt watched and swear I heard doors opening
Seventh: all weekend there is a third floor in the cabin led by spiral stairs it’s for the owners grandkids and had two bunk beds. It’s a cool room but it was toasty and my daughter kept wanting to go up there just to sit on the bed. Nothing else. She is normally always going.
Now my wife didn’t indicate anything while there and I didn’t tell her my experiences. In the car on the way home she mentioned all of the things I explained above but added some.
Wheezing on the monitor, heavy in the chest and she said she always made sure she was close to me with our daughter because on the first day our daughter had a full conversation while looking up in an empty hallway. She’s 18 months old and hasn’t done this before.
When we got home or even in the car all of this stopped. Not a single issue.
