We’re announcing Project Ebonhold, a Wrath of the Lich King private server that keeps the soul of WotLK and rebuilds it for discovery. Real build freedom. Gear that matters longer. Challenge you set. All backed by a stable, transparent, player‑first realm.
The project will be released in early 2026.

Features
Specless Skill Trees
No specs. No default spells. No known meta. A new Skill Tree lets you pick spells, talents and glyphs across your entire class. Rediscover WotLK by experimenting again, not by following well‑known guides.
- One redesigned tree per class; nodes from all specs with new links and synergies.
- Create, save and swap multiple loadouts in seconds.
- Bi‑directional unlocking: spend 1 point to access connected nodes; you don’t need max ranks to progress.
- You begin with 2 points at level 1, you get a total of 90 points at level 80.
What this changes:
- Break free from guides. The answer isn’t fixed; you’ll help discover it.
- Own your character. Your power reflects your ideas and effort.
- Community discovery. Viable styles emerge from play, not prescription.
Examples:
- Fire/Arcane mage with zero frost.
- Hybrid heal/ranged DPS druid (tree that beams).
- Arms warrior with dual wield and 2 hands weapons.
Gear Affixe
Every equippable item you loot or craft gains an additional, newly created affix chosen at random in a set of relevant affixes for the type of piece. We make sure that the afflix selected for each piece is relevant for different builds.
For instance, you would never 2H sword with affixes for mage builds. Combined with Specless, this adds a whole new dimension of character personalization where your gear and your Skill Tree define your playstyle.
You can get your gear even if you are unlucky! All the current dungeon and raid gear can be purchased with the affix of your choice, using emblems as a currency.
Torment Mode
Want to play chill, go extreme, or somewhere in between? Torment Mode lets you fine‑tune the difficulty of your adventure whenever you want. With greater challenge come extra rewards.
How it works:
- Adjustable Torment levels affect health, damage, armor and resistances. Some enemies roll WotLK-themed affixes.
- Bonus rewards: more XP, extra loot (more, not stronger), rare open‑world elites can drop dungeon‑equivalent gear.
- Start with Torment on by default; disable or raise it any time out of combat.
- Unlock a new Torment tier every 10 player levels (20 → T2, 30 → T3, …).
- Go up to T10 for full rewards. Beyond T10 is for personal challenge and prestige (titles/achievements), no additional rewards.
- To unlock levels beyond T10, complete and clear the latest available raid in your highest unlocked Torment.
Groups and phasing:
- The group leader sets Torment for the party.
- You must be out of combat to change difficulty.
- Phasing: sanctuaries/inns are shared; Torment off is one phase; T1–T10 each has its own phase; beyond T10, extra scaling applies only in dungeons/raids, with a shared world phase for T10+.
Tons of Quality of Life
Ebonhold adds modern conveniences without changing the heart of the game.
Highlights:
- Account‑wide: neutral reputations, mounts, achievements, transmogrification appearances.
- Dynamic mounts: your mount speed matches your riding skill; use any mount on your account.
- Switchable racials: unlock extra racials via discovery quests; swap out of combat.
- Starting zone choice: pick a different zone from your first quest‑giver.
- Instant logout in starting zones.
- Maps for all dungeons and raids.
- Boss listing and progress tracker per instance.
- One‑click junk selling at vendors.
- Website item recovery if you sold something by mistake.
- New race/class combinations.
- AoE Loot
Other balance and polish:
- Combo Points are stored on the player (rogue/feral), not the target — smoother swapping.
- Talent and glyph updates focus on depth over chores; the classic panes are folded into the Skill Tree.
Other Changes
- No more LFG: we removed the automated Looking for Group tool. Find groups, travel and summon like in the old days.
- Cross‑Faction: all possible cross‑faction interactions are enabled.
- Talents and Glyph Changes:
- Your pet inherits 100% of your Haste, Critical Strike chance and Attack Power.
- Exotic Beast critical strikes reduce the cooldown of Kill Command by 50%.
- Bestial Wrath also increases the effect of your next Kill Command by 100%.
- Honor Among Thieves now grants +5% Critical Strike chance to the raid.
- Sleight of Hand: your melee attacks have a 10%/20% chance to extend Garrote by 2 seconds, up to 6 seconds total.
- Glyph of Hemorrhage: leaves a bleed that deals 40% of Hemorrhage’s damage over 24 seconds.
- Glyph of Blade Flurry: reduces Blade Flurry’s cooldown by 30 seconds.

- Natural Reaction: also reduces all damage taken by 2%/4%/6%.
- Gale Winds: also reduces the mana cost of Hurricane by 15%/30%.
- Eclipse Burst: when you enter an Eclipse, your next Wrath or Starfire deals damage to all enemies within 8 yards of your target.
- Enduring Winter: your Water Elemental inherits your Critical Strike chance and Haste, and reduces your spell mana costs by 3%/6%/9%.
- Empowered Frostbolt: also increases Frostfire Bolt’s spell coefficient.
- Winter’s Chill: can also be applied by Ice Lance.
- Glyph of Ice Lance: Ice Lance deals quadruple damage against targets immune to freezing effects.
- Tactical Mastery: after changing stance, your next special ability within 4 seconds costs 5/10/15 less rage. Swapped positions with Improved Thunder Clap.
- Improved Thunder Clap: increases Thunder Clap’s damage by 33%/66%/100%.
- Taste for Blood: cooldown reduced to 5 seconds (was 6).
- Sweeping Strikes: now lasts 10 seconds and no longer has a charge limit.

- Elemental Mastery: haste bonus increased to 20% (from 15%).
- Thunderstorm: now a baseline ability at level 80.
- Earthquake: now the final talent in the Elemental tree.
- Haste now reduces the cooldown of Crusader Strike and Divine Storm.
- Seal of Command: now strikes all enemy targets.
- Consecration: mana cost reduced from 22% to 15% of maximum mana.
Quality & Stability
We’re committed to a high‑quality game experience built on stability, transparency and reliable support. The scope is clear; feature creep stays out.
Development Plan
- Alpha: limited testers help find bugs, exploits and design flaws.
- Maintenance & fixes: close to correct issues and improve performance.
- Public stress test: short reopen to validate stability at scale.
- Final adjustments: polish based on feedback.
- Clean launch: full wipe, then official release.
Support
- All support runs through the website’s ticket system with visible status updates.
- Players who report critical bugs after release can receive in‑game rewards.
Long‑term Consistency
- Planned features are listed up front. Progressive patches focus on content (dungeons, raids, affixes), stability and refinement.
- No game-breaking changes or new features will be added. Focus on refining the systems that are planned.
Fair Play
Integrity matters. We detect and prevent:
- Real‑money trading (RMT): buying/selling gold, items or services for real currency.
- Multiboxing: controlling several characters simultaneously for advantage.
Clear enforcement: warnings first; continued violations lead to permanent bans.
About Ebonhold
Built by players. Crafted by developers. Inspired by Wrath of the Lich King.
We’ve played for nearly twenty years across official and private realms, and we’ve built game experiences for more than fifteen. Wrath of the Lich Kind remains our favorite era: the sweet spot of challenge, design and community.
This is the first realm under the Ebonhold umbrella. More may come later (some long‑term, some seasonal or Remix‑style), all sharing the same foundation and quality bar.
Sustainability without Compromise
We will introduce a store after launch for cosmetics and convenience only (transmogs, mounts, druid morphs, pet appearances, …). No pay‑to‑win. Power is earned in‑game.
We also want it to be fair: not all, but quite a few store items will be craftable in‑game with no real‑money cost.
Our commitment:
- Quality and stability over quantity.
- Transparency about systems and plans.
- Fairness and integrity; no P2W.
- Ongoing support and communication.
