I’ve spoken to guys on dating apps who said in their profiles that they’ve traveled a lot.
So I texted: “You must have met many interesting people and seen interesting places then. Perhaps you can tell me some stories when we videochat.”
and they said sure.
And when I asked in a call, they had nothing to relate.
As I said, I’d already texted what I’d love to talk about, so they had time to prepare something.
There was this one guy I spoke to recently. He wasn’t lying about his travels. He has pics on IG showcasing them.
And he was intelligent to talk to. We spoke about politics, current events, religion. He seemed smart and well informed.
But I tried probing and he just had no funny or interesting anecdotes to relate about the places he’d seen and the people he’d met.
How come?
If I’d traveled as much as he, I’d be brimming over with stories.
Are men just less “story oriented” than women maybe? I don’t know how else to put it.
On the other hand, I spoke to a guy who barely left the house and he was more interesting than the guys who’d traveled. Maybe because he was a musician and he told me stuff about the music industry and other things that I never knew.
how is it HE was more interesting than the guys who’d traveled?
How can a person have traveled and seen the world and NOT have interesting stories to tell about the people he met and places he saw?
