When I first saw teasers of Hexed, you know what I thought? “Oh, interesting, a new Disney movie that isn’t a sequel of something that came out 5+ years ago.” I even thought most people would be glad to see an original movie… instead this movie only seems to be known by the fans obsessed by comparing everything to The Owl House.

I get it— what an insane coincidence that Disney is suddenly releasing a movie about someone traveling to a new world with witches afte cancelling a similar show for “not fitting the brand” right? But so many people in this fandom are acting like Dana Terrace was the first to come up with the isekai trope or the “human wanting to learn/be magic” trope and taking it out on what could at least be a decent or artfully made film.

Nothing I have seen about Hexed so far (and that has been very little because this movie doesn’t even have a TRAILER yet) looks even remotely similar to The Owl House- if anything it looks closer to Amphibia because of the color scheme and forest setting.

It’s a shame that so many people here will probably miss out on a decent movie written by someone who really loves the genre and wants to share their work (just like Dana Terrace and literally any other creator you’d put on a pedestal) just because they have their tunnel vision set on The Owl House.

Not every show with witches and magic is going to be a knockoff of TOH, or even directly inspired by it.

Dana Terrace, as amazing as she is, did not come up with witches and magical worlds.
