HSGuru Wild Meta filtered for Past 2 Weeks, Topp 1k, Min Games 2500
Let’s start by looking over at the meta over the past two weeks. Discolock is still toward the top. Pirate DH has picked up enough popularity to make it in this meta snapshot. This validates the idea that proactive strategies do well in a diverse meta full of tech. It’s a lot easier to focus on your own game plan rather than try to finely tune a reactive deck to work in a wide meta.
Nazmani Priest is still broken and needs to go, but it is still taking hits.
Hostage mage and XL HL Shadow Priest are on the bottom. Last week, I said Seedlock felt unplayable. What has changed? XL HL Shadow Priest was (and still is) seeing a lot of play. Hostage Mage and Disco have a decent share of the meta. These are all decks that Seedlock wants to see. Moreover, Seedlock’s poor matchups (Egglock, Bacon and Eggs Warlock, and Fatigue DH) are not seeing enough play to show up in this macro view of the meta.

As we start zooming in, we see Fatigue DH show up at the top with 56% win rate. Aggro decks, Pirate Dh and Discolock, are eating well. Seedlock still looks good. Hostage Mage is looking a lot better – it has a good matchup against Discolock, Nazmani Priest, and Fatigue DH (all the tier 1 decks from the last report), and there isn’t much Boar showing up yet (XL Demon Boarlock being the only deck that has showed up so far. Hostage Mage isn’t excited to encounter Seedlock, but that’s only 4.7% of the meta.
XL HL Shadow Priest doesn’t look good in this snapshot. The matchup spread is one of the most reasonable you’ll find. If you know the match ups well and you are a good player, this is a good deck for you to to try to leverage your skill rather than play the queue gambling simulator. This deck is holding rank 1 EU. It’s popular and having success at the high ranks. XL HL enjoyers out of top 200 are most likely bringing the win rate of this deck down significantly.
There has been a lot of interest in Hunter since I started doing meta reports a few weeks ago. XL HL Leoroxx Hunter looked promising last week, but it didn’t have enough data yet. I can’t say with certainty that the deck is bad, but it does not look good in the current meta.
Note that I had XL CTA Paladin high Tier 2 in the last report. It is nowhere to be seen in these meta snapshots, though.

I am very cautious to make any strong conclusions when we look at these low sample sizes. That being said, I want to see how XL CTA Paladin is doing. 60.9% win rate?! Broken Deck? S-Tier? I suspect it’s a small group of talented pilots that are finding success with it. This is similar to what I’ve seen the past few weeks with CTA. Note that XL HL Rogue is right below CTA. This illustrates why we cannot read too much into low sample size data. XL HL Rogue is obviously unplayable trash with a win rate propped up by anz and PaHyang.
You’ll notice that Boarlock and Egg Warlock have appeared once we loosen up the filters. Boar does very well into most things that aren’t aggro or Egg Warlock.
Egg Warlock isn’t seeing much play. I suspect people do not enjoy playing through all the tech and Starfish that’s in everything.
Basher Warrior is seeing more play and has a decent win rate – this is definitely propped up from Copper being addicted to the deck and playing so many games with it each day.
Bacon and Eggs Warlock (formerly nhlnjfan1 lock) is nowhere to be seen. This is surprising since Hostage Mage enjoyers, Basher Bros, and Reno mains are always complaining about it.

Bacon and Eggs Warlock is winning, but it’s only had 116 games tracked in the past week? I suspect half the games were counterqueueing in the top 20, and the other half were sniping kvlt on his daily Basher cook streams. The sample size is far too low to merit observations besides this deck is seeing very little play in the meta.
Since nhlnjfan1 cooked this hybrid deck, there conversation has been around which deck is better. We’re looking at this the wrong way.
Bat Mask introduced Boarlock to the meta. The Boarlock plan is so powerful against slower decks, but it’s unplayable into aggro. 30 Boarlock played a lot of bad cards. XL Demon Boarlock fixed the aggro match up, but it slowed down the boar plan a lot by adding a lot of clunky (often unplayable) cards to your combo deck. Moreover, it takes longer to assemble boar combo in a 40 card deck. Cutting bad cards from Boarlock for the Egg package gives it a competitive plan against aggro decks. Bacon and Eggs Warlock is simply the best Boarlock deck. Let the record state that nhlnjfan1 ruined wild with this cook.
That gets us to this week’s Tier List.
The Tier List is maintained in Google Docs with all deck names hyperlinked to deck lists on HSGuru that I have curated. I’ve walked through how I look at the data. I’ve then applied my own subjective reasoning. kvlt, nhlnjfan1, tyleniphe, and schmoopiedaddy always engage in meta discussions and help shape my perspective. I got some great feedback from EU superstar MajorTom that helped balance out my NA experiences and bias.
I consistently play in the top 20 and finish single digits. This tier list is me trying to process which decks I should be queueing. It’s also a great reference when I’m trying to adapt to what decks I’m seeing on a given day.
A lot of decks are Unplayable Trash if you’re in the top 100 and looking to climb. Your favorite deck is probably playable in diamond or dumpster legend meta. You might want to check out my last post doing a diamond-legend meta tier list if you missed it.
