This is a little complicated, but here goes. I’m 18, born female, I have socially transitioned (nothing medical yet) and tend to pass. My grandma is more left leaning politically and fairly accepting as far as I can tell. She calls me by my chosen name (which is really just a unisex version of my birth name, I’ve gone by it for like 5 ish years). I want to be able to tell her because I care for her deeply and want her in my life. However, my cousin (who lives with my grandma, she’s 19) is some sort of non binary and uses neopronouns and all that. So I’m concerned that if I try telling my grandma that hey, I have gender dysphoria and present as a guy, I’ll sound like a tucute and she won’t take me seriously. What should I do? I’m seeing her this weekend. She lives very far away so I don’t see her often and last time I chickened out but I do want to tell her. There’s a good chance that next time I see her after this I’ll be on HRT, so now is the best time.
