Our neighborhood hosts a Community Garage Sale twice a year, and my wife & I have gotten in the habit of collecting unused items on a dedicated cart in the garage… and we typically make some decent weed/taco money every time we set up a table and participate. It’s mostly just something fun to do on a Saturday morning with my wife.
I have a nice flat screen tv that needs a new power supply — but otherwise works great. Anybody who can fix a tv would know how to get it running easily. But it never sells. Most garage salers aren’t interested once they find out it doesn’t work… BUT — a lot of people stop and get out of their cars to ask about it, and a lot of those people end up chatting with us, and ultimately buying something else for $1 or $2.
The tv makes excellent garage sale bait.
I offer to sell it for $10 broken/as-is. If it sells, it sells. If not, back into the garage — where it takes up very little space… and sits until the next garage sale.
