My storage unit with Public Storage got burgled yesterday. I got a call at 5:55 PM from one of the staff saying that the bolt on my unit was broken, and to come in the next day to move to another unit. They also said they were leaving since it was the end of their shift (great help, right)? Anyway, I rushed over and sure enough someone had broken the bolt and gone through all my stuff. I called the police, they said they’d “put it in” but didn’t know when an officer would make it over to file a report. So I went home and waited for a call, which never came.

I’m about to head over again to move my remaining belongings to a new unit, but I don’t know what to do about filing a police report. They seem incredibly slow and I need to get to work, but I also want to be able to file an insurance claim if it turns out to be necessary. Any suggestions as to how I should handle this?
