So I’m in my early 20s, living in a a busy part of a major city. Like 80% of the time when time I walk around my neighborhood, I’ll get at least one older dude harassing me, or else ogling me (ya know the whole head turn, stare you down like they’ve got laser eyes that can see through your clothes?)

So, taking inspiration from a Bojack episode where women start carrying guns for protection, I’ve started reaching for it as a response whenever a man is creepy to me. I don’t have the energy to wait until I’m being violently attacked to pull this baby out; this is preventative care. If these losers want to make me feel unsafe, they get the same energy back.

Sometimes it’s just me reaching in my bag and they seem to automatically understand me what I’m doing (imagine being so creepy that you can immediately tell when someone is reaching for grab pepper spray lmao). Other times I’ll just straight up point it at them if I it’s warranted.

And let me tell you, these dudes get so mad about it that it’s funny. They’ll loudly whine about how they were “just being nice” or whatever, but they won’t mess with me because I’m the one in power now.

Is it overkill? Maybe. But you know what else is overkill? Making women feel unsafe on the street.

I’m also thinking one day when I feel bold enough, I’m gonna start screaming like at them like a banshee, or tell them “I’m sorry, I don’t have any cash.”
