Ok, I’m not going to name names here or resources. Grown women do have choice over their bodies and what you do with my body, ultimately, isn’t mine or anyone else’s choice or business. I don’t mean to shame people who get plastic surgery or want to change their looks in general.
First, there’s the weight thing. It’s understandable, these are beauty improvement forums. I don’t have a problem with that in itself.
However, I’ve seen multiple women give tips on how to get prescribed Ozempic at weights which are well within the healthy BMI range.
I’m not saying you can’t lose weight if you’re a healthy bmi (that’s what I myself am doing rn), I’m talking about women giving each other tips on how to lie or bypass certain requirements for a risky and relatively newly popular drug in order to lose weight.
Then there’s the women who are openly encouraging other women to go BMIs which are solidly in the mid underweight range, to maximize their looks.
Everyone was acting like you’ll be glowing at a solidly underweight BMI as long as you’re eating a “healthy” diet, without even mentioning that if you are eating under a certain amount of calories, it’s difficult to get enough nutrients to keep you looking your best. These people need to be taking vitamins and I don’t see that being mentioned nearly enough.
Then there’s the weird, borderline toxic Eurocentric-ness that pops up. Light eyes are considered superior to brown (especially dark brown) and a lot of worship of stereotypically northern European features, and borderline vitriol towards certain features such as more prominent noses.
Maybe I’m over sensitive, I don’t know.
I get that these people are aiming towards traditional beauty, but in my opinion, and I’m not saying this in a performative sense, there is nothing wrong with certain features, a large or wide nose doesn’t make you unattractive in the slightest and saying that they are inherent failos give me the ick.
This one girl, who was from SEA, was talking about her journey. No shame to her personally, but she got her eye color changed from dark brown to hazel surgically. Everyone was congratulating her, and asking where she got it done.
I was thinking, you can literally go blind from that procedure, and people wanted the deets.
Yeah, I’m sorry if I sound overboard. Again, women have full reign over what they want to do to their bodies but some of it just rubs me the wrong way.
