Met up for drinks with a man who was overly complimentary on the app. On the date, he:

  1. Waved his hand at me as soon as we sat down and said “well???”. When I made a face at that, he said we had waited a long time to meet. I reminded him that he picked the day.
  2. Immediately complained about work and how exhausted he was. He later took a work call.
  3. Asked what I did for work. I told him. He said “so, you do nothing”.
  4. Said he had never had a relationship for more than a few months, but had been in two fistfights over a woman. Asked me for my relationship history and whether I wanted children.
  5. Said having basic interests (ex. liking Taylor Swift) is “immoral”.
  6. Said all wine from where we live is bad. When I asked what he’d recommend instead, he spent 10 minutes searching for one on his phone.
  7. Wanted me to justify all of my opinions/interests to him.
  8. Showed me the numbers of women he had in his phone.
  9. Said that it seemed like my threshold for what I consider normal is ‘skewed’. When I asked how, he said it’s because I noted that I had never been served draught cider in a whiskey glass before.

How do you not get discouraged? I’m approaching 30 and after a date this bad I’m wondering if I should keep trying to find my person.
