Looking for input on a situation that just happened between me and my husband. He is launching a business with his business partner, and I overheard a conversation they were having about creating a job posting. His partner asked what criteria they should specify for the job.

My husbands response was to make a joke, saying they should create a post asking for “attractive female CPA”. I was taken aback by the comment and couldn’t help but peek my head around the corner and roll my eyes at him. He noticed my reaction, and after he got off the call he immediately got defensive and argued I shouldn’t have been eavesdropping on his private conversation. (In reality, his office door was open and I wasn’t intentionally listening in.)

I responded by telling him I just thought his comment was creepy and misogynistic. Again, defensively, he claimed that it wasn’t misogynistic and that guys should be able to make jokes with their guy friends without being judged. More specifically: “I don’t want to live in a world where I’m considered misogynistic for making jokes with my guy friends.”

So, AITA for calling him out on this? My gut reaction is still that it’s creepy and inappropriate, if not blatantly disrespectful when he has a wife, but I’d appreciate thoughts on whether I’m overreacting.
