I work at jobs that has mostly men in them and a lot of men as customers. I get hit on, a lot. I am pretty average and I think that’s why these dudes feel ok doing it because I’m not traditionally attractive, so I’m more approachable. I started changing my lock screen to an old photo of me and my fairly attractive ex while I’m at work. It just made me feel safer. It didn’t stop the creeps from bothering me, but it did reduce the fear of them being aggressive when I blow them off because I can “blame” my “boyfriend” for rejecting them.

I just had a mini breakdown yesterday realizing why I did this. It gives me a very thin safety blanket. I also put on makeup when I normally don’t so people are nicer to me. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to work in customer service style jobs and I forgot how terrifying it is.
